Zona Imaginaria
Zona Imaginaria is an active cultural center and artist-run space created by the famous Argentinian printmaker Lucrecia Urbano in the outskirt of Buenos Aires in 2008.
The art space is organized as an exchange platform for investigation, experimentation, and training, and welcomes numerous events such as symposiums, exhibitions, workshops, as well as classes of printmaking, engravings, non-toxic photo-engravings, digital arts, photography, and multimedia arts.
Zona Imaginaria’s residency program, « who can live in this house? », is open to all disciplines, nationalities, cultures, genders, and ages. Nonetheless, the program is socially oriented and strongly encourages artists to have a project that will include the local community of Villa Jardin’s neighborhood in order to create cultural exchanges and social bonding.
Artists can apply for a one to three months residency by sending a Curriculum Vitae indicating the links of the Website and Instagram account of the applicant, an artist statement, a body of artworks, and a project proposal. Artists will have a private room, pet and companion friendly, and have access to private or shared studios, depending on the needs of the project, a ceramic oven, printers, a dark room, a library, exhibition space, as well as mentoring and assistance during the realization of the project. Resident artists are invited to participate in the weekly artists’ meeting held in the house, to give workshops and conferences, and are free to take any of the classes given in Zona Imaginaria. The residency ends up with a public presentation, either in the format of an exhibition, a conference, a performance, a publication, or an open-studio.
