Discover the MACBA Study Centre, in which the residency program of the worldwide famous Catalonian museum MACBA, opens to cultural and artistic professionals.
Since 2007, The MACBA Study Centre welcomes researchers, academic professors, and artists in a 1 to 3 months residency programs, extensible to 6 months.
«The museum is not to be taken only for a place of shows or exhibition, but also as a place of inquiry, not only with art but at the intersection between art, social practices, political practices, and activism» explains Pablo Martínez, MACBA Programs’ Manager.
For the actors of the cultural field, it is an opportunity to consult the numerous original documents concealed in the MACBA.
«In the library, there are 90,000 documents among which are books, magazines, audiovisuals, it’s a quite interesting variety, and there are also in the archive 200.000 documents» indicates Noemí Mases, Coordinator of the Research Support Program.
«Here is offered a useful tool, especially for those who research outside universities or other institutions. What I find very good is the possibility to consult the archive, to consult original material» confides Alessandro Scuro, resident at the MACBA Study Centre.
