Nave TAO
Nave TAO is a foundation created in 2019 by Joshua Xolox with the aim to explore arts as a therapy of life, an experience nourishing the soul, the mind, and the body.
It is a transformation initiative based on self-knowledge through a therapeutic and spiritual approach. The foundation is hosted in the Casa Huapalcalli in the outskirts of San Miguel de Allende, a house for arts and well-being specially designed to find inspiration, creativity, introspection, and a healthy way of life. It organizes numerous activities such as concerts, dance representations, yoga classes, spiritual ceremonies, sound experiences, workshops, environmental actions, and exhibitions. In addition, the place has a commercial gallery and is home to a contemporary art collection.
The residency program is open to national and international artists wishing to develop their creative potential through a dynamic of corporal, spiritual, and artistic activities. The residency generally lasts for one week and welcomes up to thirty artists each year and as much as six artists are at the same time to ensure a collaborative experience. Selected artists will be hosted in private or shared rooms in the Casa Huapalcalli where collectives and troops are welcome. Artists will have access to shared studios, a dance floor, instruments, and exhibition spaces. They will be taking part in collective activities from meditation, energizing practices, healthy alimentation, corporal consciousness, a personal session with a physical therapist, daily talks around fires, expeditions in the mountains, and personal time for their creation during which they can count on assistance from Nave TAO’s community. Artists may also organize workshops, community building, exhibitions, or open studios.
