Fundación Casa Tres Patios
The Foundation Casa Tres Patios is a private non-governmental cultural center created in 2007 in Medellin by the artists Sonia Sequeda, Tony Evanko, and Santiago Vélez.
The foundation aims to promote social justice through a multi-disciplinary philosophy that integrates educational research and socially based programs. Casa Tres Patios combines artistic practices with critical thinking, art theory, social sciences, and philosophy to stimulate new ways of thinking about the national and local context at a cultural, urban, and social level.
Over the years, Casa Tres Patios invited more than 200 artists from all over the world in its residency program. They seek to bring artists who can build strong projects with the local community and demonstrate problem-solving skills when facing a general or peculiar situation.
As the residency program works by invitation only, Casa Tres Patios is always looking for trans-disciplinary artists that could come from one to three months, with a particular interest in artists who can organize workshops, classes, conferences, readings, do some community building or edit a publication, depending on the nature of the residency and the research topic. The artists will be receiving a grant corresponding to the project, will be living in a private room, and have access to the co-working space of the center.
Nowadays, the Foundation Casa Tres Patios is a referent of the Colombian’s artistic scene for its non-traditional practices and proposals, and for the incredible work realized with the city’s communities.
