Casa Espacio Buenos Aires 824
Casa Espacio Buenos Aires 824 is a cultural organization dedicated to contemporary photography created in 2013.
The project is designed as a place for dialogue, dissemination and production of photography at local, national and international level. It is an inclusive space open to the entire community that has a library of more than 2,000 photobooks. The initiative also organizes the FIFV - Valparaíso International Photography Festival, which takes place every year and brings many photographers, authors, collectives and galleries to think the world from the city of Valparaíso.
The BsAs 824 residency program is open to national and international artists without restrictions of age, religion, gender or professional level. Although the program is open by invitation only, selected artists will have the option to carry out self-directed research, production or exhibition programs, and to organize a workshop program for the local photographic community, or even to carry out a special residency whose results will be exhibited in various annual events of the organization.
Up to five artists in residence per year will be housed at the center in a private room, a companion will be accepted, and they will have access to a darkroom for analog work, professional printers, the library, and will receive advice from the community that gravitates around the project. Artists will be invited to organize workshops, lectures, readings and art dinners. Upon invitation, artists will be asked to submit an artist statement, a body of their latest artwork and a project proposal in relation to the city. Depending on the economic situation of the artists, the residency may be supported with a percentage discount, where the artist will have to give back with some activity to the organization.
